Banana with sweet coconut filling

Pazham Nirachathu

Delicious South-Indian Snack

Being a wife of a South-Indian husband it is almost impossible not to post any South-Indian recipes. There are some view recipes and food items I really like of that specific region. I will surely share some of my favorite food items from Kerala and surroundings. This is my first recommendation: The Fried Indian Banana stuffed with heavenly flavored Coconut. Now knowing that South-Indians use coconut a LOT (as there is plenty available for cheap as well), they also dip coconut into their curries and salty food. But hey. we all love coconut dipped into sweets (like Bounty Chocolate Bars). Try out this one and surprise your Non-Indian fellows with something unique and different.
So here's the easy to make recipe for you:

Ingredients:
  • 3 Indian Bananas
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 10 Cashew nuts
  • 10 Raisins
  • 5 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup All purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp Sugar

Method:
  1. Mix the flour and the water in a bowl to make a thick paste.
  2. Heat a non-stick pan and add sugar, grated coconut, cashew nuts and raisins. Stir on low flame for 5 mins. Keep aside!
  3. Peel the bananas and make a slit in the banana vertically, making sure you don't break the banana. Into the slit put the coconut mixture and dip then banana into the flour mixture.
  4. Heat clarified butter in a pan and shallow fry the stuffed and dipped bananas till golden brown.
  5. Serve hot

Try this delicious flavor of South-India and enjoy with family and friends :)
